Introduction and Overview
Please read carefully. Your use of this website, mobile application, or any services provided by Lipedema Guru is subject to this Privacy Policy, Disclosures, Disclaimers, and Terms of Use.
Lipedema Guru (operated by Lipedema Guru Ltd, hereinafter “we,” “us,” “our,” or “Company”) is a Canadian virtual educational wellness consultancy dedicated to empowering individuals with knowledge and resources for managing lipedema. Our services include personalized wellness consultations, optional bioresonance hair testing (IgG Food MAP with Candida + Yeast) and saliva hormone profiling, comprehensive educational content, and personalized wellness educational reports.
We voluntarily exceed many regulatory requirements by implementing enterprise-grade security and privacy controls.
Important: What We Are and What We Are Not
Lipedema Guru Ltd is a wellness education consultancy incorporated in Canada. We are not a healthcare provider, medical practice, or licensed clinical facility. We do not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or provide medical advice. Our consultations and reports are educational in nature and are clearly labeled as wellness educational reports. All personalized reports include prominent disclaimers advising you to consult qualified healthcare professionals before making any health-related decisions.
Although we are not a healthcare provider or a HIPAA-covered entity, we take the security of your personal and health-related information seriously. We voluntarily adopt security controls aligned with the HITRUST Common Security Framework (i1 level) and comply with applicable privacy laws including:
- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act and FTC Health Breach Notification Rule
- The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA)
- The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian provincial privacy legislation
- The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR where applicable to European users
This combined document outlines our Privacy Policy, Disclosures and Disclaimers, and Terms of Use (collectively, the “Agreement”). It applies to all users (“you,” “your,” or “User”) of our website at www.lipedemaguru.com, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Platform” or “Services”).
By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to this Agreement in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. We may update this Agreement from time to time; changes will be posted here with the effective date revised. For material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
Part 1: Privacy Policy
1. Information We Collect
We follow data minimization — we collect only what is needed.
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account details (name, email, phone, address, billing info)
- Health-related information you voluntarily share during quizzes, consultations, or assessments (symptoms, lifestyle, self-reported history)
- Test results from optional MosaicDX testing (delivered as a separate report)
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe and PayPal — we never store full card details)
- Messages and support inquiries
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data (pages viewed, time spent, features used)
- Device and technical information (browser type, IP address, general location at city/region level)
1.3 Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies for the site to work, plus analytics (Google Analytics) and marketing (Meta Pixel) cookies that collect anonymized data. You can manage preferences via your browser or our consent banner. Disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.
1.4 Information from Third Parties
We receive test results from MosaicDX and transaction confirmations from payment processors. All third-party data is protected under this Policy once it reaches us.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Deliver consultations, educational reports, and test results
- Communicate with you (confirmations, updates, newsletters — easy opt-out)
- Improve our services and content
- Meet legal and security obligations
2.1 Use of Artificial Intelligence
We use secure, HIPAA-eligible artificial intelligence tools on fully de-identified data only to assist with certain internal business practices and the development of educational insights. No raw personal information or identifiable health data is ever provided to any AI model. All AI outputs undergo human review before any use. These tools operate entirely within our secure, controlled cloud environment, and your data is never used to train third-party models.
If you are in a jurisdiction that provides rights related to automated decision-making, you may request information or human review by contacting privacy@lipedemaguru.com.
3. How We Share Your Information
We never sell your personal information.
Service Providers: We work with trusted partners (payment processors Stripe and PayPal, email services, analytics) who are contractually required to protect your data.
Laboratory Partners: If you choose optional testing (IgG Food MAP with Candida + Yeast or Saliva Hormones Profile), we share only the minimum necessary information with MosaicDX. MosaicDX is a HIPAA-covered entity and may use your health information for research purposes (with Institutional Review Board approval) without your individual authorization, as described in their own privacy notice. Test results are returned to us and delivered to you separately. Questions about MosaicDX’s practices should go to privacy@mosaicdx.com.
Potential Future Affiliates: Lipedema Guru Ltd currently operates as a standalone entity with no affiliated companies. In the future, we may establish affiliate relationships with other entities. If and when we do, we may share anonymized, aggregate marketing and analytics data with those affiliates for business intelligence purposes. No individual-level personal data or health information would be shared with any affiliate without your explicit consent. This Policy will be updated to identify any affiliates before such sharing begins.
Legal Requirements or Business Transfers: We may disclose information when required by law or in the event of a company sale (with notice).
4. Consent for Sensitive Health Data
Health information is sensitive. For EU/UK/Swiss users we require explicit consent before processing. For everyone else, providing the information during consultations or testing is taken as consent for the educational purposes described here. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@lipedemaguru.com (this may limit our ability to provide certain services).
5. Data Security
We take the protection of your information seriously and use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Strict role-based access controls
- Hardware-based multi-factor authentication for administrative and clinical systems
- Regular security assessments
Although we are not a HIPAA-covered entity, we voluntarily follow security controls aligned with the HITRUST Common Security Framework (i1 level). This includes:
- Dedicated secure cloud infrastructure with strict isolation of health-related data
- Customer-managed encryption keys
- Immutable backup procedures
- End-to-end encrypted communications for sensitive correspondence
- Network-level segmentation and monitoring
Full technical details are maintained internally and available to regulators, business partners, or auditors under appropriate confidentiality agreements.
We require all service providers and laboratory partners to maintain equivalent security and execute Business Associate Agreements or equivalent data processing agreements where applicable.
6. Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event of a breach involving unsecured personal health information, we will notify affected individuals and regulators as required by law (FTC Health Breach Notification Rule, Canadian federal/provincial requirements, and applicable U.S. state laws).
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep information only as long as necessary. Typical periods are:
- 7 years for account, consultation, test, and report data (for legal and professional record-keeping)
- 2 years for marketing data
You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@lipedemaguru.com. We will delete or anonymize where possible while complying with legal obligations.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, opt out of marketing, and withdraw consent. California, Canadian, and EU/UK/Swiss residents have additional specific rights under CCPA/CPRA, PIPEDA/PHIPA, and GDPR. Contact privacy@lipedemaguru.com to exercise any right.
9. Email Newsletters and Marketing
Creating an account or subscribing to our services may enroll you in our email newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at privacy@lipedemaguru.com. Non-marketing communications (such as consultation confirmations, service updates, and security notices) will continue as necessary for service delivery.
10. Research Consent (Separate and Optional)
We may offer you the opportunity to consent to the use of your de-identified data for aggregate educational research about lipedema management. This consent is entirely voluntary, separate from your agreement to this Privacy Policy, and will not affect your access to any of our Services.
Any data used for research will first undergo our documented de-identification process, which includes the removal of all 18 HIPAA identifiers plus additional indirect identifiers, conducted within our secure cloud environment. The resulting aggregate, de-identified dataset cannot be re-linked to any individual. De-identified research data never leaves our controlled infrastructure without additional review and approval. We will never publish or share identifiable individual data for research purposes.
11. Children’s Privacy
Our Platform and Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 for any of our Services. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from anyone under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at privacy@lipedemaguru.com.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services that are not operated or controlled by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit. Linking to a third-party site does not constitute endorsement.
13. International Data Transfers
Lipedema Guru Ltd is a Canadian company with operations in both Canada and the United States. If you access our Platform from outside these countries, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or Canada, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using our Platform, you consent to such transfer.
For EU/UK/Swiss users, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission to ensure an adequate level of data protection for international transfers. We maintain executed SCCs with our service providers who process personal data of EU/UK/Swiss residents. If you would like to review these clauses or receive a copy, please contact privacy@lipedemaguru.com.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Platform or by sending you an email. The updated Policy will indicate the new effective date. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
Part 2: Disclosures and Disclaimers
15. Medical and Health Disclaimers
Lipedema Guru Ltd is not a healthcare provider. Nothing on this Platform constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
All services provided by Lipedema Guru Ltd, including consultations, personalized wellness educational reports, bioresonance hair testing, saliva hormone profiling, and educational content, are for informational and educational purposes only. Our wellness educational reports are based on cross-referencing your personal information with published research and educational materials about lipedema.
Test results (from IgG Food MAP with Candida + Yeast or Saliva Hormones Profile) are delivered to you as a separate document and are provided for informational purposes only. They are not clinical diagnostic tests and should not be treated as such.
No doctor-patient, therapist-patient, or any other healthcare provider-patient relationship is created by your use of our Services. You should always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making any decisions about your health, beginning or modifying any treatment or wellness regimen, or relying on any information provided through our Services.
We expressly disclaim all liability for any actions taken or not taken based on information provided through our Platform or Services. Your reliance on any information we provide is at your own risk.
16. Test Results Disclaimer
Testing offered through our consultation packages is provided by our independent laboratory partner MosaicDX, a HIPAA-covered entity. Important things to understand about your test results:
- Test results are delivered as a separate document from your wellness educational report.
- Test results are for informational and educational purposes only.
- Test results are not clinical diagnostic tests and should not be used as a substitute for diagnostic testing ordered by a licensed healthcare provider.
- MosaicDX operates under its own Notice of Privacy Practices and may use your information for research purposes as described in Section 3 of this Agreement.
- The specific documents you receive depend on your consultation package. Not all packages include testing.
17. Consultation Packages
The documents and deliverables you receive from Lipedema Guru depend on the consultation package you purchase. Packages may include a personalized wellness educational report, test results from bioresonance hair testing (IgG Food MAP with Candida + Yeast) and/or saliva hormone profiling, or a combination. The specific inclusions are described at the time of purchase. Test results and wellness educational reports are separate documents serving different purposes.
18. Affiliate and Sponsorship Disclosures
In compliance with the FTC Act and FTC Endorsement Guides, we disclose the following:
- We may earn commissions from affiliate links to products and services featured on our Platform (for example, compression garments, wellness products, and supplements).
- Sponsored content, when present, is clearly identified as such.
- Our recommendations are based on the professional expertise and experience of our team, though affiliate relationships may exist.
- Specific affiliate partnerships are identified where applicable on individual content pages.
19. GINA Disclaimer
We do not currently offer genetic testing services. If genetic services are introduced in the future, we will update this Policy and comply with the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and all applicable regulations.
Part 3: Terms of Use

24. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Interfere with or disrupt the Platform or its servers
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform
- Upload malicious code or content
- Reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit Platform content without authorization
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
25. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform, including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, courses, reports, and software, is the property of Lipedema Guru Ltd or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Platform and its content for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
26. Limitation of Liability
We stand behind the quality of our educational services and work hard to provide you with valuable, well-researched information about lipedema management. However, because our services are educational in nature and are not a substitute for professional medical care, there are certain limits to the responsibility we can accept.
Specifically, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses that may result from using our Platform or Services. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of income, loss of data, or other intangible losses — regardless of whether we were advised that such losses were possible. This applies no matter how a claim arises, whether through contract, negligence, or any other legal theory.
If a situation does arise where we are found to be liable, the most we would owe you is the total amount you paid us for Services in the twelve (12) months before the event that led to the claim. We believe this is a fair balance given the educational nature of what we provide.
To be clear, nothing in this section is intended to limit our responsibility in cases of fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law. We take our obligations seriously.
27. Disclaimer of Warranties
We work hard to keep our Platform running smoothly and our content accurate and up to date. That said, like any online service, we cannot promise perfection. Our Platform and Services are provided without guarantees beyond what is stated in this Agreement.
We do not warrant that the Platform will always be available, error-free, or completely secure, or that every piece of content will be perfectly accurate or complete at all times. While we strive for excellence, we are unable to make promises about implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We encourage you to always verify important health-related information with a qualified healthcare professional, as our content and reports are educational tools — not medical guidance.
28. Indemnification
If a claim is brought against us because of how you used our Platform, decisions you made based on our educational content, or because you violated these Terms or the rights of another person, we ask that you take responsibility for that claim. This means you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, that arise from such situations.
We recognize that this is a significant commitment, and we would only invoke this provision in circumstances where a claim genuinely arises from your actions rather than ours. This is a standard protection that helps us continue offering our services to the broader lipedema community.
29. Dispute Resolution
We hope we never have a disagreement that we cannot resolve together through good-faith communication. If a concern does arise, we encourage you to reach out to us at support@lipedemaguru.com first, and we will do our best to address it.
If we are unable to resolve a dispute informally, we ask that it be settled through binding arbitration rather than in court. Arbitration is typically faster, more affordable, and more private for both sides. Arbitration would be conducted under the rules of the ADR Institute of Canada (or the American Arbitration Association for U.S.-based disputes), and would take place in the Province of Ontario, Canada. We ask that any arbitration be conducted on an individual basis rather than as a class or group action.
Either party retains the right to seek injunctive or equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
30. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes not subject to arbitration shall be brought exclusively in the courts of the Province of Ontario.
31. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Platform at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions of this Agreement that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution, and intellectual property provisions.
32. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary. The remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
33. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and Lipedema Guru Ltd regarding your use of the Platform, superseding any prior agreements or communications on this subject.
Thank you for choosing Lipedema Guru.
